Automatic Abstraction Tool
Scope has developed an automatic abstraction tool, which automatically condenses a full text of patent or non-patent technical literature and extracts portions of the text containing the key themes of the article. This will be further curated by Subject Matter Experts to provide precise and accurate abstracts. This results in significant reduction in the time taken for abstracting and cost savings to the publishers.
Language/ Copy Editing Tool
Scope has developed a rule-based editing tool, which will automatically read through the literature and highlight the areas where the document needs editing. This will help the human editors to make their own judgment, on the editing changes to be made.
Translation Memory Tool
Scope has developed a tool where the human learning is complemented by a machine learning process. In this process, we built a memory translation tool which helps the abstractor to translate the material on the fly with the help of online dictionaries and his own language expertise (a separate language training was provided to the in-house engineers) and contextually validated with the help of online resources and peers through the tool itself.
Content Mining Tool
Scope has developed a text mining tool for automatic extraction of metadata, concepts and named entities from any unstructured literature using taxonomies and ontologies. This tool also helps in clustering repositories of domain specific content based on themes and visualizes the relationships between concepts.
Online Collaboration Tool for developing a Medical Taxonomy
Scope has a proprietary web-enabled collaborative tool, where the taxonomy developed by us can be simultaneously reviewed by the customer and their independent third-party quality auditors. Real time feedback can also be provided through the tool itself. This facilitates a consultative approach for development and helps the client with an agile process for continuous improvement during the product design and development stage itself.
Integrated Workflow Tool
We handle a huge volume of abstracts in different languages and with a mix of translated inputs coming in different quality levels from different languages and with varying skills of abstractors (in terms of domains, language capabilities). There are challenges to ensure the uniformity and consistency in the quality of the final abstracts and also load balancing of the team. For this, we have developed an integrated workflow tool, with the flexibility and embedded intelligence to route the documents to the right production lines based on the complexity of the documents, variability of the inputs and the skill sets required. In order to handle the huge volume ramp-ups, we are also developing an online workflow tool, which can provide a virtual environment and help in remote processing of the documents from multiple locations.
We have developed our own automated copy-editing tool, which will highlight the language and formatting errors in a document. This is basically a productivity enhancement tool to facilitate the copy-editors to decide on and make the necessary changes at a faster pace.
Scope has implemented an anti-plagiarism software tool to ensure that the developed content does not violate any express copyright policy as specified in the source publication. This tool will pick up consecutive terms that are copied 'as is' from the original source.
We have also developed tools which helps us in automatic capture, validation and de-duplication of data from both structured and unstructured documents, which helped in optimizing the process flow, minimizing the risk of errors in data capture and elimination of redundant data.
The resultant productivity gain gets passed on to the customers in the form of economies in production and more volume at a lesser cost.
